This article analyses the nature and evolution of female and child labor in the wealth producing company throughout the perioded 1911-1928, in nine provinces in which were concentrated the major employment of this bind. It shows that the contribution of woman and child labor contributed significantly to the diversification and expansion of the industrial activity in the country -despite the fact its that evolution was characterized by marked fluctuations that ultimately led to the relative decline of these participants in the industrial labor market. This phenomenon was influenced, on the one hand, by the impact of the Great War and the inestability that followed in the national economy and, on the other, by the social procupation and the growing restrictions imposed on the activit. By the 1930´s the female work force had decreased considerably and children were practically absent from factories.
