This article examines the national image and the difficulties to approach them from its own elements regarding social construction so as to analyze (based on four authors: two Chileans - Palacios and Encina- and two Bolivians -Arguedas and Tamayo-) the images of their respective countries in the period they commemorated their centennial anniversaries.
