Within the framework of the eighteenth century illustration movement, the encyclopaedia acquired a fundamental importance in terms of the schematic organization of human knowledge. What this work sets out to do is to study El Tesoro de la Juventud o Enciclopedia de Conocimientos, a Hispano-American version of the English encyclopaedia for children, The children's encyclopaedia, the first edition of which appeared in 1915. To be more specific, the main objective of this study is to analyze the world concept of the El Tesoro de la Juventud which it presents to a children's public through its different contents. We are interested in discovering, relatively long after it was created, the form by which a trusting and optimistic view of Humanity was created, successful in astonishing children through the admirable scientific advances, the wonders of Nature, and the progress that human creativity had been able to achieve, as well as the use it had been able to make of Nature at its service.
