Resumen
MITRE, Antonio. MODERNIZACIÓN, REFORMA POLÍTICA Y UNIDAD ESTATAL EN BOLIVIA. Universum [online]. 2008, vol.23, n.1, pp. 134-162. ISSN 0718-2376. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-23762008000100008.
The starting point of this essay is the acknowledgment of a paradox present in the political course of Latin American states which, in spite of their fragile internal constitution, show extraordinary continuity in time and, with rare exceptions, have not experienced territorial fractures leading to the formation of new sovereignties or to the extinction of the ones existing since the XIX Century. The question raised is whether such trend could be modified due to the rising of ethnic and regionalist movements taking place in some countries. The analysis focuses on the Bolivian case.
