The Jesuitical documentation refers the charismatic forwardness of the manifestations of religiosity in the settlements, understanding them as indications of the adhesion to the Christian values and as public evidence of the assimilation of the "civilization of the affections and conducts". In the converting process of the Guarani - that implied "to live in reduction" - the missionaries were conditioned by Indian motivations and aspirations, in spite of the definition of strategies and the handling of symbols and values
