The article describes the journalistic treatment of the newspaper El Mercurio of the Santiago de Chile brings over of September 11, 1973. This date, considered a milestone in the national history, is an object of a treatment that from the positive tone happens to the predominantly neutral one. The authors is demonstrate as this neutrality is opposed to the critical vision of September 11, aspect that has an internal sensibility in the way, due to your franc opposition in the days of the Popular Unit. Equally there is stated statistically that the end of the positive emphasis is produced for the economic crisis of the 80s and suffers the crises derived from tied events, principally, to the figure of the general Pinochet
