The presence of rock art in the northern Patagonian coast is reported for the frst time. The findings correspond to caves on the Vilcún hill (42º49`S-72º50`O), Santa bárbara, close to the modern city of Chaitén and are both paintings and engravings. No surface archaeological materials were found.
