CALDERON, Roberto; ARREDONDO, Jorge A; GALLEGOS, Ricardo y MAYAGOITIA, Fernando. Electrical Consumption and C02 Reduction using Saving Systems and Thermal Insulation applied to Dwellings in Arid Lands of México. Inf. tecnol. [online]. 2011, vol.22, n.2, pp. 69-78. ISSN 0718-0764. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-07642011000200008.
The energy consumption of two types of dwellings, efficient and inefficient, are analyzed and compared, determining the electrical consumption and C02 reduction, utilizing thermal insulation and saving-energy options. The study done by simulation was applied in three arid áreas in México: Mexicali, Baja Obregón and Hermosillo. The results indícate that Mexicali presented the highest consumptions rates with 7.104 kWh/year, affecting directly the family household income, thermal comfort and life quality, besides providing 4.88 tons of C02 emission per house per year. These indexes can be reduced by 40 and 50% if the house is efficient.
Palabras llave : electrical consumption; energy efficiency; thermal simulation; C02 emissions.
