Viscosity of diluted aqueous solutions of 1,2-pentanediol was determined at several temperatures between 283 and 308 K, using an Ubbelohde viscometer. The B coefficients for viscosity, the variation dB/dT, the enthalpy, the entropy and the free Gibbs activation energy were evaluated. It was found that the B coefficient decreases as the temperature increases. The values obtained for dB/dT are both low and negative for all the temperature measures, which indicate that the 1,2-pentanediol has a structure forming effect on water and the presence of specific interactions caused by hydrogen bonds between diol and water.
