A general and original procedure is presented for determining the fixed-end forces in the 2D elastoplastic beam element. It is assumed the Navier hypothesis for beams with rectangular cross section, sudden and concentrated plasticity in the beam ends attending the yield function based on the von Mises criterion but expressed in term of beam forces (axial and shear forces and bending moment). The examples deal with one or two cross section in plastic state under concentrated or distributed loads. The results illustrate that the transmitted forces depend not only on the applied forces but also on the forces that caused the plasticity in the considered end of the beam and that, because of the plastic behavior in the plastic section, coupling between forces and displacements appears in that section.
