The kinetics of the pyrolysis of used automovile tires cars has been investigated by thermogravimetry under dynamic and quasi-isothermal conditions using heating rates from 1 to 40 °C/min in a wide temperature range (20 to 1000°C) on inert ambient (nitrogen). The degradation process starts at 152 ±16°C and ends at 487±32°C. Two simulation models, serial and parallel, were used. The best results were found with the three reactions parallel model. It is demosntarted that heating rate has an important effect over the pyrolysis process and when increased it shifts the decomposition zone to higher temperatures. The overall weight loss is constant (67 wt%) and an important effect of the particle size and of the sample size on the pyrolysis kinetics was found.
