GARCIA, J; REYES, O. A y OLGUIN, D. Series Resonance Overvoltages in Petrochemical Plant Power Systems. Inf. tecnol. [online]. 2005, vol.16, n.6, pp. 43-49. ISSN 0718-0764. doi: 10.4067/S0718-07642005000600008.
The purpose of this study was to determine the conditions under which resonance overvoltages occur in the petrochemical plant power system in Mexico. This analysis was carried out by means of simulations of the electrical system using ATPDraw under fault conditions. The simulation results showed that the resonance appeared from 2 to 18.5 kHz, with a maximum magnitude of 20.5 p.u. It was found that this phenomenon depended on the grounding scheme of the plant. Modification of the interconnection scheme of the power system was required in order to avoid these overvoltages. Based on the simulations carried out, it was necessary to electrically isolate the generators using unit transformers in a delta - star connection.
