An algorithm based on the concept of confidence regions is described and applied in the optimization of gas production systems. The problem of optimization is established considering that a given gas production system should optimally produce enough quantity to satisfy a demand. The production system is described using two conceptual units: well and manifold. In this way, the proposed algorithm carries out the simulation of the process to determine the production of gas for a previously fixed topology of wells interconnected through manifolds. The wells and manifolds are rigorously modeled so that a system of non-linear equations is obtained. The thermodynamic properties are calculated using cubic equations of state. Numerical evidence of the results shows the goodness of the algorithm proposed
