SILVA, A.A. y IRMAO, M.A.. Comparison of Time-Frequency Representations Applied in Simulation and Faults Analysis in Geared Systems. Inf. tecnol. [online]. 2004, vol.15, n.5, pp. 17-22. ISSN 0718-0764. doi: 10.4067/S0718-07642004000500003.
A study was made on time-frequency representations applied in the simulation and analysis of faults in geared systems. This was done through studies related to the generation of signals which were able to simulate several examples of the operation of geared systems under dynamic conditions. The results of these studies were then applied to time-frequency representations including Spectrogram (STFT) and the Wigner-Ville Pseudo-distribution (PWVD) for these models. Based on the analysis of signals which simulated typical fault conditions, it was possible to point out the viability of using these methods as tools for the detection and diagnosis of faults in geared systems. The maps visualized showed the advantage of the PWVD distribution over the STFT distribution. The former offered better resolution in frequency and was shown to be less affected by noise, allowing better identification of the signal components
