In this paper the Preisach model as an alternative to analytical approximations to characterize magnetic hysteresis in numerical methods applied to calculations or analyses in electrical engineering, is presented The fundamentals of the classical Preisach model are explained showing alternatives for its definition. A fit is proposed for the method chosen which obtains good results using a small number of experimental curves. A generic algorithm for its solution as a numerical method is also presented. Finally, an alternative assay is proposed which allows obtaining experimental data for definition of the model without the need for sophisticated equipment . It is concluded that the classical Preisach model is as simple a system for execution as the numerical method, permitting prediction of the value of the induction for an instantaneous value of field intensity, based on prior performance
