This paper presents the experimental determination of the characteristic curves of the main pumps in the Montjuic fountains in Barcelona-Spain. These characteristic curves are later used to determine the characteristics of the different hydraulic circuits which make up the fountain. The principal conclusion of the study centers on the proof that the characteristic curves of many of the rings studied show that they have similar loss characteristics. Based on this, the working points of the pumps operating the different rings should demonstrate little variation, assuring that the fatigue to which the pumping groups are submitted would be minimal. The system will be used for future predictive maintenance of the installation
