The effect of the pressure on flash distillation with multiple solutions was analyzed, applying calculations for instantaneous equilibrium and phase equilibrium. The methodology establishes the localization of multiple solutions as a function of the temperature (from bubble to dew) and of the pressure, employing two thermodynamic calculation methods, based on those of Rachford and Rice and that of the minimization of the Gibb´s free energy. The results suggested that if the pressure in the system is increased, the composition range is minimized and one of the multiple solutions tends to not be observable. It is concluded that the multiple solutions are thermodynamically feasible and that both solutions only coexist in the stationary state, if there are no major changes in pressure in the system
