ARANCIBIA HERRERA, Marcelo. Reflections on the pedagogical applicability of computer science: Notes for a transdisciplinary work in the school curriculum. Estud. pedagóg. [online]. 2001, n.27, pp. 75-95. ISSN 0718-0705. doi: 10.4067/S0718-07052001000100006.
This article presents an open opposition to the traditional education activity, which works within the simplistic, traditional, uniformity and reduction of the reality imposed by the neoliberal "globalization" through a technical curriculum that cuts the reality by subjects. The Society of Knowledge implies new forms of behavior, of relations and human development, that bring along the following phenomena: complexity, artificiality, chaos, computerization and diversification. The educational activity, in this context, must be adapted to these transformations. The simplistic and standardizing visions of neoliberal globalization and the reduction paradigm of natural sciences do not allow the understanding of reality in its complex dimension nor contribute to its holistic understanding. The educational activity is classified in this positive and simplistic scheme through a technical curriculum that sorts out knowledge in the school subject matters. Educational computer science appears as a potential open resource to make pedagogical actions that allow students to develop the complex holistic thinking through a transdisciplinary use of the computer science resources.
