This article is the result of research on the Centennial festivities. It specifically describes what the organization of the Historical Exhibition of the Centennial meant to the patrimonial field, making a distinction between the traditional and modern positions in its discourse. Besides, it is a reflection on the patrimonial practice within the context of Chile at the beginning of the 20th Century as a kind of symbolic construction of the country
