OELKER, Dieter. De fermosura e donaire: Sobre el ideal de belleza femenina en unos versos de Juan Ruiz con un apéndice sobre el sentimiento y concepto náhuatl de hermosura. Atenea (Concepc.) [online]. 2006, n.493, pp.35-62. ISSN 0718-0462.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0718-04622006000100004.

Juan Ruiz fusions in the evocation of Doña Endrina both medieval European and Arab sentiments of beauty.  Grace, proportion and light predominate in the unfolding of the properties that make a woman beautiful.  The perception of Doña Endrina in function of the love-passion that her beauty inspires transforms the experience into an emotional event and inscribes in the cannon of beauty the features of sensitivity and individual preference. The sensations of light and movement and an appreciable sensual component are inherent to the Nahuatl sentiment of beauty.  Beauty is intimately associated with the perception of flowers that admit diverse readings and multiple references.  They symbolize the divine, religious, mystical and earthly senses of beauty, an invitation to perceive flashes of luminosity of the divinity and the call to enjoy life in spite of the anguish that its finitude inspires

Palavras-chave : Cannon; sentiment of beauty; Arab translation; Golliard song; Bayad and Riyad; Marquis of Santillana, grace; beauty in movement; proportionate disposition; light.
