This paper deals with the status of human rights treaties as sources of Chilean Constitutional Law, examining their hierarchical position, and the relationship between Constitutional Law and International Law, as well as the limitations imposed on the State of Chile by the 1989 amendment to article 5, subsection 2, of the Constitution.
