The document concept and its replacement with the electronic document is discussed, establishing the strengths and weaknesses of an electronic document in comparison to a paper document. The concept of the literal proof is also analyzed and, in relation to it, the possibility that the electronic document has to fulfill the requirements that the civil legislation places on documental deeds and subscriptions.
