Nursing has evolved as a discipline; however, many times nurses do not have enough knowledge of advances. A literature revision of nursing science as part of the discipline will be discussed to distinguish and witness their evolution and development, by describing its comprehension and terminology. Perspectives for the future and the challenges for the global as well as the regional South-American nursing community, will be described.
