We present a simple method to correctly evaluate the fetal heart in order to improve the prenatal diagnosis of congenital heart defects. The method was applied as part of a routine 22-26 weeks ultrasound examination realized in a Community Ultrasound Unit of a Primary Care Facility depending on the South Metropolitan Health Service of Santiago, Chile. We propose that the systematic application of this method by local sonographers will improve the correct fetal heart evaluation, particularly in the second trimester of pregnancy
