A prospective protocol of correction of the stress urinary incontinence using the Tension_Free Vaginal Tape (TVT) is presented. A total of 44 patients in the Obstetric and Gynecologic Service of Talca Hospital are presented. Inclusion criteria are the presence of a severe stress urinary incontinence of at least two years evolution and an association with some gynecological pathology susceptible of being corrected. The technique is based on the sub-urethral sling of polypropylene in the shape of hammock in the mid urethra. The tape is placed using needles, which are introduced via abdomen, and coming out ipsilateral of the insertion site. Surgery complications were urinary tract infection and urinary retention. A mean follow-up was 12 months; 93% of them were cured. Conclusion: the technique is a promissory treatment for urinary incontinence. Surgical complications are minor
