Prophylactic efficacy of the association of Tinidazol-Cefazoline in patients undergoing vaginal hysterectomy. Evaluation of a prophylactic antibiotic scheme, efficient and secure that can reduce postoperative infection morbidity in vaginal hysterectomy. Two thousand fifty patients are prospectively randomized in two groups; 228 patients fulfill inclusion criterioa: group 1 (116) received Tinidazol 2 g (po) and Myconazol-Tinidazol 100-150 (vaginal). Group 2 received oral and vaginal placebo. Cefazoline (IV) was used preoperatively in both groups. The efficacy was clinically measured. Inclusion, exclusion and diagnostic criteria were established, also control scheme, matching different variables. For group 1 it was observed a 2.6% of infection. In the other hand, for group 2 there was a 16.1% of infection. (Odds ratio: 7.21 RR. 6.21 IC 95% Chi-square (10.83 p-value: 0.0009978). In this second group there were 5 cases diagnosed with vaginal cuff abscess, and none in the control group. Conclusion: The use of Imidazoles contributes to reduce the occurrence of vaginal cuff abscess and cellulitis
