A communication strategy was developed for improving utilization of nutrition services once access barriers were eliminated. Intervention consisted of facilitating free demand and invitations to target population through three kinds of communication media: posters, fliers and loudspeaker messages. After the intervention, spontaneous visits to the nutrition department increased by 40%. All communication media showed intragroup differences on the indicators studied. Broadly speaking, the three communication campaigns were good in reaching the objective, but post hoc analysis showed fliers were better for increasing spontaneous demand
