We present the results of analyses of different historical records to demonstrate how Aymara communities in Northern Chile en-dared both Peruvian and Chilean state regulation of land property rights; and how these regulations influenced their ethnic and nationalistic collective identities between 1821 and 1930, when these territories become part of Chile.
