We present the results of the zooarchaeological analysis of bone material from La empozada and Altos de Melién II, archaeological sites in the Guanacache Lagoons area (Mendoza, Argentina). The geomorphological and environmental characteristics of the area determine taphonomic processes and agents that can be observed in the bone record, marked by the occurrence of a high percentage of unidentified fragments. We conclude that consumption of microfauna, especially fish and birds, is the dominant characteristic of the record. The results support the hypothesis of a pattern of seasonal use of wild resources
