Resumen

SOLARI, María Eugenia  y  LEHNEBACH, Carlos. PENSANDO LA ANTRACOLOGÍA PARA EL CENTRO-SUR DE CHILE: SITIOS ARQUEOLÓGICOS Y BOSQUE EN EL LAGO CALAFQUÉN. Chungará (Arica) [online]. 2004, vol.36, suppl., pp.373-380. ISSN 0717-7356.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-73562004000300039.

Anthracology (from the Greek anthrax, akos: burning coal) bio archaeologic carbonized plant remains deposited in archaeological sites or accumulated after natural events such as forest fires, volcanic events, etc. For almost a decade the anthracology has been rarely included in interdisciplinary studies of the Chilean archaeology. In fact, the terminology used to describe this type of environmental discipline varies from country to country, and even its inclusion as part of social or life sciences is not consistent. Therefore, depending on the goal of the bio-archaeology studies proposed, anthracology may be linked to disciplines such archaeometry, palaeobotany or archaeobotany. In this study, we present an interdisciplinary approach to the study of archaeological sites in the Calafquén area with the aim of recreating the environment of cultures adapted to temperate-forest ecosystems during the Arcaico and Formativo periods

Palabras clave : Anthracology; methods; woody species; palaeobotany; archaeobotany; Lake Calafquén.
