We analyzed available regional archaeological data to reconstruct political and economic organizations, settlement patterns, interaction spheres, and way of life of communities that inhabited the coast, valley, oases and sierra of the Arica region. The study area corresponds to what Lumbreras (1981) called the region of Valles Occidentes, during the Late Intermediate and Late Horizons (ca. A.D. 1,100-1,500)

Keywords : Political and economic organization; Late Intermediate and Late periods; Andes.
