This paper describes the violent destruction of the Cora funerary bundles or mummies by the "civilized Catholics" during the colonial epoch. This was part of the persecution of indigenous cultures in New Spain and Peru which lasted from 1722 until the end of the Colonial Period. The Jesuit and Franciscan Missionaries initiated a campaign for the systematic destruction of indigenous religion which was considered idolatrous. The documentation of this persecution will be presented and analyzed in this paper
