ROSENBLITT B, Jaime. EL COMERCIO TACNOARIQUEÑO DURANTE LA PRIMERA DÉCADA DE VIDA REPUBLICANA EN PERÚ, 1824-1836. Historia (Santiago) [online]. 2010, vol.43, n.1, pp. 79-112. ISSN 0717-7194. http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0717-71942010000100003.
This article analyzes the transformations of commerce in the Tacna-Arica region after Perus independence. The most relevant aspect of this process was the massive arrival of foreign merchants, especially British, who intensified the integration of the regional economy to world-wide economic networks. Moreover, the article examines the role economic actors from the colonial period, such as Creole merchants and muleteers had, under the new scenario generated after Perus independence.
