This article analyzes the case of young Maria Pizarro, from Lima, who underwent a series of exorcisms since it was believed she was possessed by the devil. She was tried by the Inquisition Tribunal and died in one of its prisons in 1753. Based on this drama, the article deepens our understanding into individuals religiosity in this period, paying special attention to aspects related to the spreading of beliefs and theological ideas linked to the supernatural. At the same time, this case is placed into a broader context of a society experiencing deep social, political and religious changes
