The period between 1598 and 1683 is characterized by a series of events that permit to separate it as a particular stage in the interethnic relationship process that developed at the south of the river Biobio. Control projects of diverse nature, emanated from such unequal groups as the vicinal-military estate and the Society of Jesus, established a network of tensions which state in power devices contradictory between them, although looked for the same objective: to domain the reche-mapuche society
