Pyrosoma atlanticum Péron, 1804 is registered for the first time for the coastal waters of Humboldt System Current. The analyzed organisms correspond to 35 colonies collected with Bongo nets between 0 and 200 m of depth off Valparaíso, in December 1994. In addition, 22 colonies collected with IKMT nets between 5 and 70 m of depth over Nazca Plate, to 750 mn off Antofagasta in February 2003 were analyzed
