PARRA, Luis E; VILLAGRAN-MELLA, Romina; HERNANDEZ, Esteban A y HERNANDEZ, Cristian E. Phylogeny of the genus Psilaspilates (Butler 1893) (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) and description of a new species for Fray Jorge relict forest, Chile. Gayana (Concepc.) [online]. 2010, vol.74, n.2, pp. 94-101. ISSN 0717-6538. doi: 10.4067/S0717-65382010000200003.
A new species oí Psilaspilates Butler 1893, P. septentrionalis Parra sp. nov, from the relict coastal forest oí Aextoxicon punctatum R. et P (olivillo) from the Parque Nacional Fray Jorge, Región de Coquimbo, Chile, is described. Previously kwon species of Psilaspilates distribute in the central-south of Chile; therefore, P. septentrionalis sp. nov. is the only species distributed in the northern Chile. Subsequently, the phylogeny oí Psilaspilates was inferred using two approximations, máximum parsimony and Bayesian inference. The sister species of the new species, P. concepcionensis y P stygiana, distribute in central-southern Chile, in coastal forest where olivillo is also present. We suggest that the ancestor of these three species was widely distributed in coastal olivillo forest, and that during the Last Glacial Máximum its populations become isolated and speciation occurs.
