This paper is a comparative reading, a b reading indeed, of the consti-tutional writing of Emerson and Thoreau, the reticent writing of Leo Strauss and the revisionist ratios of Harold Bloom. Also it disputes the notions of influence and canon and it aims to establish the possibility of reading. This paper is an apology of literary ethics.
