This article draws a brief history of interpolationism concerning the Roman legal sources, from its very beginning in the Humanist Legal Scholarship to its fall in the second half of 20th century. Some of the recent lines of research in the Romanist studies pointing out a new rendering of the problems of textual criticism are also discussed here.
