RAMOS ALVES, DIMITRI; LUQUE, JOSÉ LUIS  y  RODRIGUES PARAGUASSU, ALINE. ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE INFRAPOPULATIONS OF Cucullanus genypteri (NEMATODA: CUCULLANIDAE) PARASITIC ON PINK CUSK-EEL, Genypterus brasiliensis (OSTEICHTHYES: OPHIDIIDAE) FROM COSTAL ZONE OF THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO, BRASIL. Parasitol. día [online]. 2001, vol.25, n.3-4, pp. 126-128. ISSN 0716-0720.  http://dx.doi.org/10.4067/S0716-07202001000300011.

Between September of 2000 and January of 2001, 55 specimens of pink cusk-eel, Genypterus brasiliensis Regan, 1903 were captured from the coastal of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (aprox. 21-23° S, 41-45° W), and necropsied to study their cucullanid nematode. All fishes were parasitized for Cucullanus genypteri Sardella, Navone & Timi, 1997. A total of 1312 parasites were collected, with average of 23.8/fish. The cucullanid nematode of G. brasiliensis showed a typical pattern of distribution. Cucullanus genypteri showed an increase in abundance in relation to the host size. The sex of host did not influence the abundance of C. genypteri.

Palabras clave : Ecological aspects; Cucullanus genypteri; Genypterus brasiliensis; Ophidiidae; Brazil.
