RAMOS ALVES, DIMITRI; LUQUE, JOSÉ LUIS y RODRIGUES PARAGUASSU, ALINE. ECOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE INFRAPOPULATIONS OF Cucullanus genypteri (NEMATODA: CUCULLANIDAE) PARASITIC ON PINK CUSK-EEL, Genypterus brasiliensis (OSTEICHTHYES: OPHIDIIDAE) FROM COSTAL ZONE OF THE STATE OF RIO DE JANEIRO, BRASIL. Parasitol. día [online]. 2001, vol.25, n.3-4, pp. 126-128. ISSN 0716-0720. doi: 10.4067/S0716-07202001000300011.
Between September of 2000 and January of 2001, 55 specimens of pink cusk-eel, Genypterus brasiliensis Regan, 1903 were captured from the coastal of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (aprox. 21-23° S, 41-45° W), and necropsied to study their cucullanid nematode. All fishes were parasitized for Cucullanus genypteri Sardella, Navone & Timi, 1997. A total of 1312 parasites were collected, with average of 23.8/fish. The cucullanid nematode of G. brasiliensis showed a typical pattern of distribution. Cucullanus genypteri showed an increase in abundance in relation to the host size. The sex of host did not influence the abundance of C. genypteri.
