PARRA R., Rodrigo  and  GARCIA B., Cristian. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in Paedriatrics. Rev. chil. pediatr. [online]. 2002, vol.73, n.4, pp. 341-347. ISSN 0370-4106.  doi: 10.4067/S0370-41062002000400002.

MRI has become an important tool in modern medical diagnosis. Its main advantages include the excellent anatomical definition, its capacity to make cuts in different planes, and the excellent definition between different soft tissues and the fact that it does not use ionizing radiation or iodine based contrast medium. We review its history, the physical and technical aspects, and its advantages and disadvantages in clinical medicine. We discuss its application in the investigation of the CNS, chest, abdomen and muscle-skeletal structures, its usefulness in the delimitation of tumors, infections and avascular necrosis. Finally we discuss the future possible applications of MRI
