Introduction: The evaluation of health care is needed for the results of efficiency and efficacy. The IMM Administration believes so, and is especially interested in evaluation of the new model of health care with emphasis in promotion and prevention. Methods: in order to evaluate the Child Care Program during 1998, there were studied the total number of consults to children (total 88 445). The analyze shows a very acceptable following degree: 48% of control visits and 6,7 average number of control visits in children up to 1 year old. The study was particularly developed in 5 services with a special treatment to children"s mothers: "health promotion groups". There it"s described the results of a 118 children population, aged of 4 months. The study is completed with a mothers and technicians research. Results: Exclusive breast feeding up to 4th month: 73%; acceptable nutritional state in 95% cases; 90% cases with more than five control visits up to the 4th month. Mothers opinions were very satisfied with the cares proposed and the service organization. Conclusion: We can conclude that it has a special importance to take ahead a Children Care Program with clear objectives, activities and indicators, that allows to visualize the improved results of a new health care model
