Breast milk has an optimal composition for infant nutrition along the first six months of life. However its components and volume may be subject of several variations under the influence of different stimulus wich may cause clinical problems that deserve attention to avoid them. Among examples of such differences the effects of premature delivery and tobacco smoke may be cited. A review of main variations and its possible causes and effects is done
