Four known sterols: ergosta-5,7,22-trien-3ß-ol, ergosta-7,22-dien-3ß-ol, ergosta-7-en-3ß-ol and ergosta-5,7,9(11),22-tetraen-3b -ol were isolated by CC and HPLC preparative from the fruiting bodies of Ganoderma australe. It was established that no other sterols were present in the extrac. Their structures were elucidated by physical and spectroscopic methods. The sterol content was quantified using GC-MS. Besides, esters, fatty acids and hydrocarbons were identified by GC-MS.
