The present article offers, on the one hand, a generic-systematic panorama of the entire work of Johann Baptist Metz, and on the other hand, by means of the most attentive overview possible of a great part of his personal bibliography and some of this Germán theologian's main, existing international works today, offers us reading keys that begin with a treatment of the principal concepts of the author. The article concludes with a brief analysis of his undeniable achievements and merits, as well as, especially, his many limitations and open questions, in particular those referring to his Christology.
