Universum, Revista de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales is edited by the Institute of Humanistic Studies "Juan Ignacio Molina" of the University of Talca.

The two main objectives of this magazine are: Firstly, to spread the results of the investigations in the field of humanities and social sciences, mainly focussing on Latin America. Secondly, to promote the creation and consolidation of the network of intellectuals and professionals on a regional and international scale.

The areas of interest in this magazine include, in a wide sense, humanities and social sciences, considering the historic, political, social, economic and cultural aspects of Latin America.

Universum, Revista de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales was first published in 1986, and was published annually. However, in 2004 the frequency with which it was published was modified and it began to be published once every six months.

The abbreviation of its title is Universum, which is used in bibliographies, footnotes, inscriptions and bibliographic references.

The articles published in Universum Revista de Humanidades y Ciencias Sociales are indexed or summarized by:

• The copyright holder is the Institute of Humanistic Studies in the University of Talca.
• The published articles reports and bibliographic information can be either partially or totally reproduced, but it is necessary to quote one’s sources. The authors have rights to fifteen reprints of their article and to a copy of the magazine.
