INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Significance and editorial policy

The Journal of Law of the Universidad Austral de Chile is a journal of general legal studies, whose purpose is to contribute to the development of Legal Science, promoting critical and plural discussion on relevant legal topics. The Journal is composed of three sections: investigations, discussions on jurisprudence, and reviews; unedited works of any legal discipline are accepted in each section.

The Journal will submit the received papers to judgment by a member of either the Editorial Council or Consultancy Committee (and by means of an external advisor in any necessary case), and the author will be informed of the outcome no later than May 30th and October 30th of each year, respectively. In regards to the result of that judgment, the Journal reserves the right to accept or reject the publication of the papers received, as well as suggestions to the author in relation to changes of form that do alter the content of the composition.

Method and preparation of manuscripts

Contributions must be presented typed in Spanish, on full sized paper, in Times New Roman or equivalent font, size 12, separated by a space and a half. Those corresponding to investigations may have a maximum extent of 25 pages. Papers that correspond to discussions on jurisprudence may have a maximum extent of 2 pages, extent that does not include the content on the ruling, which must be transcribed by the author of the discussion. The reviews may have a maximum extent of 3 pages.

Regarding investigations, the author must title his/her paper in the briefest manner possible, and will write at the beginning his/her first and last names, academic degree, postal address, email, and the institution he/she belongs to. The paper must contain at the beginning a summary in Spanish, in a maximum of 10 lines, providing a precise approach about its content. At the end, all papers must include a bibliography of all consulted texts.

Afterwards, the book’s title, in cursive. Then, the publishing company, place of publication (in Spanish), year of publication, and the page(s) quoted.

Afterwards, the volume (vol.) and/or the number (núm.), the year of publication, and the page(s) quoted.
