The manuscript
should be written in Spanish, preferably Word format in letter-size
pages numbered consecutively in the upper right corner. Double-space
all the text, using font tipe Arial, font size 12. Two (2) printed
versions are required, as well as a CD including full text and separate
files for Tables, Figures and legends for Figures. |

Research Articles, Clinical
Series Reviews and Updating Papers should not exceed 20 pages; Case
Reports can be extended up to 10 pages; typical length for Letters
to the Editor is up to 2 pages. |

Original versions submitted
by authors will not undergo any modification except the ones proposed
by the Editor. |
| 4. |
Title Page. Title must be
written in Spanish. It should be concise but informative. Title
page should include: authors’ names, listed by first name
initial, full last name, and mother’s maiden initial (e.g.:
J. Soto M.); authors’ highest academic degree, institutional
affiliation and country must be provided as well; corresponding
author’s e-mail address, phone and fax numbers, and mailing
address must be included. If appropriate, identify the place where
the research was conducted.
As for Research Articles, Clinical Series Reviews and Updating Papers,
a maximum of 7 authors is recommended. If more than 7, grounds for
inclusion have to be provided. |

Second page. Title of paper
written in English. Abstract written both in Spanish and English
not exceeding 150 words in length each. Both abstracts should clearly
and concisely state the purpose of the research, basic procedures,
main findings, and principal conclusions.
Below the abstract authors should provide, and
identify as such, 3 to 6 key words for indexing purposes. Terms
selected from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), Index Medicus, accesible
at www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh,
should be used. |

Subsequent pages, consecutively numbered, should include: |

Introduction. State the purpose
of the article and summarize the rationale of the study or observation.
Give only strict and pertinent references and do not include data
or conclusions from the work being reported. |

Material and Methods. Describe
procedures and materials used for collecting and organizing data,
including relevant and appropriate details for reproducing experience
in future research works. Specify statistics tools applied and include
Institutional Review Boards approval, when appropriate. |
| 8. |
Results. Present your results
in a logical sequence in the text, using tables and illustrations.
Do not include interpretations on observations carried out. |
| 9. |
Discussion. Emphasize the
new and important aspects of the study and the conclusions derived
from them. Include in this section the implications of your findings,
as well as their limitations. Avoid repeating details already presented
in the Introduction and Results sections. Compare the most relevant
results of your study with other papers already published, stating
brief and concrete conclusions when appropriate. |

Acknowledgements. To be included
when appropriate, identify and acknowledge only those individuals
and/or institutions which have made substantial contributions to
the study, but do not meet the criteria for authorship. |

References. References should
be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned

Type each table with double spacing on a separate
sheet of paper. Number tables consecutively according to order of
appearance in the text with Arabic numerals. Submit them in CD or
in a file labeled “TABLES”. Do not submit object- or
figure-shaped tables. Supply a brief title for each table, specifying
meaning of abbreviations in footnotes. Provide brief explanatory
legends to facilitate understanding of table contents. |

Illustrations (Figures) should be submitted in CD in a file labeled
“IMAGES”, numbered consecutively according to the
order they have been first cited in the text. Do not submit
Images in Power Point format or pasted into Word documents.
Images cannot include patiens’ names.
Gray-scale images must be recorded in CD, TIF format or JPG
highest resolution, 300 dpi preferable. Low resolution images
must be submitted in the largest possible size.
If digital cameras images are enclosed, make sure that-at least-a
3.0 MP Digital Camera has been used.Make a list of Figure legends
numbered consecutively. When more than one image is included,
identify the content of each one of them with consecutive lower
case letters.

For graphics, strong and contrasting colors
are recommended. Provide brief explanatory legends to facilitate
understanding of Graphic content. |

Illustrations, images or graphics in
color. The cost of publication of color Figures must be
consulted to the editors. |

Reproduction of non-original graphic
material. When material already published is reproduced,
its original source must be identified, along with a written permission
from copyright owner. |
